An Interview with “ME” by Hessa Ahli

Were you able to find a job that is related to your major?
Yes, I am actually working in my own business, but my media concentration is in Spanish. I work with Mexican, Venezuelan, Argentinian and some Emirati celebrities since 4 years. I am working now as a director, film editor, montage maker, general writer, photographer, interviewer and promoter. I am also working on a movie, TV series, and reality TV, and photo-shoots for people.

Was it easy to find your job?
Yes, because as I mentioned I have started my own business since I graduated. I have been working on it and developing my self since early stages of my life, which made it easier for me to establish my own business after graduation directly. currently started a work in a TV station so far everything is good.

How long did it take to find a job?
Well again, I didn’t take too long to find a job, I started after graduation directly and it took me 4 years to reach where I am right now. It always depends on
  - your career building
  -you passion about it
  -how ambitious you are
-don’t worry about failing just keep on.

What is the range of graduates salaries when they start working?
Some places will offer 10,000 – 15000 as a start but when you enter the field and show your work and effort they will increase it for you.

Are you using what you have learned in the classroom in your job?
I started my career before entering the major; I used to follow my mom a lot when I was a kid she watched TV a lot especially Mexican programs and series “telenovelas” which got me interested about media in that concentration. Always motivated me to decide that I will study media so I followed this path, which made me write stories in this field (in Spanish) and am doing some work related to this right now, so basically the university didn’t teach me something I didn’t know, but other students did, they learned from day one while I was training or practicing during my classes. I have learned two skills from the university and my major. First, I learned from the PR (public relations) and wrote three articles about it, but unfortunately I wasn’t into that field. Second, I learned blogs writing skills which made me create and develop my own blog which has many articles written by me.

Are you where you wanted to be or you have a higher goal?
For now, am really proud of what I have accomplished, but am still not satisfied, I have a much higher goal and am definitely not going to stop.

Did you start the way you wanted to?
Yes, because I do have the decisions and I own everything and I am the boss of my self and I sometimes do partnership with some businesswomen and men around UAE. So basically, I own my Spanish media business but I have some partnerships with UAE locals.

What are your friends doing now? Kind of place they work now? Did they find their jobs easily?
I did know many girls but after graduation haven’t been communicating with them. The only one I still communicate with is Hamama Harib “founder of Naqsh” and few others. Media is needed in markets those days where as it is growing now and the country have been motivating locals to work in this field.

Did she “Hamama Harib” get the job through the university help or herself?
Herself, she has a business; she started everything herself, not through the university.

What skills did you get from the university and what qualities does the major require the students to have?
Students have to be passionate, creative , artistic, and confident, have a big and wide vision, have his/her own ideas, lots of experience, and most important not copy others work.

What was the internship you did and capstone?
Internship: I actually did not apply for an internship because I was already experiencing work with the consulate of Mexico for few days then moved to Rubenius Company worked for Claus Rubenius for a while. I represented them and I was the director and the camera girl of their events, conferences and interviews, unfortunately it wasn’t much for me to do there. I took shots and did office work. I didn’t really like it there because they are a business company little boring for someone like me, but the people are nice and very helpful when you need them.

Capstone: I have created a video with 2 friends, the project was about the alumni of Zayed University to see where they reached in few years, where they work, what they have created and if they continued in this field or no. The most inspiring graduate I have worked with is Farah Al Fard, which is working on a project that deals with quilling papers. We managed to work on a video with the quilled papers in a big garden, with fountain and nature. We had our cameras moving and rolling over the place. It was the best experience I had with the alumni.

Did Zayed University prepare you for the work field; did you feel that you were ready for it?
Well, I felt I was ready for the field because of my passion about it since I was a 12, but I don’t feel like I got my preparation from the university because Zayed University at that time had poor preparation for students in the media “Film and Broadcast”  field.

How were you assessed?
In past, students did not do practical work that much, we needed to do our own  work in our personal time out of university to develop and only got practical experience in internships. The work was mostly in researches.

Are you happy with your job, what do you gain form it?
Yes, I am very proud of what I have accomplished especially that I made my mother proud too. It is amazing that I got the opportunity to get experience and work with a lot of people that I really admire and respect, never expected years ago that I will be working with them one day.  Its nice to have a connection with the people you admire on a professional level such as actors, directors, writers, producers, for example I never expected before that I would actually be able to interview the actress Astrid Carolina Herrera but I managed to do it, it was an honor to me she is an amazing professional woman. But something that not everyone knows that these people actually do help others a lot in their career, people such as the venezuelan actress/singer KIARA and the actress Hilda Abrahamz are willing to help people like me, sweet and adorable people and what makes them great is their honesty. So basically in this field you gain friends from different places, ages and you gain experience plus the advice and gaudiness from such professionals like them.

An Interview with “ME” by two young journalists Farah and Fakhra Al mazrouei :

Two young journalist interviewed me a week ago:

·          Introducing herself, position, graduation year, field, and working period:

Her media concentration is Spanish, and she works with Spanish celebrities for 4 years now: Mexicans, Venezuelan, Argentina, and Dubai, she goes by her professional name ARROYO.

-she is 22 years old.

-she Majored in Visual communication that was known as “Film and Broadcast” from Zayed University in Dubai City.

-She has her own Blog that includes everything she did and accomplished, and website created for Telenovela world.

-She owns her own business as a film editor, director, montage maker, general writer, photographer, interviewer and promoter.

·         What are the most important tasks of your job position?

-To be creative

-Think outside the box

-To love what you are doing

·    Why did you choose this major?

-I didn’t choose it, the major chose me.

-I liked the media field since I was 12, I got so passionate for this field, and by the time I reached Zayed University everything was like training to me, as I was working in this field while I was a student in that major.

·     What are the required skills to be successful in this field?

-First thing is that you should really like this field and enjoy what you are doing.

-you should always be yourself, be unique at what you do and present, never try to copy anyone in the way he/she work, especially if you write a script or an article, because that person can drag you to court for that.

- You can never be successful if you are not enjoying what you are doing and you will be miserable.

·    What skills/strengths have you gain from your job/major?
-Running my own business.

-well I was doing a lot of things by myself when I started, things that didn’t include “photographing “ because it was just a hobby to me and then the skill just  developed into a part of my career and business.

·   How did you find your current job? What are the most satisfying and frustrating aspects at your job or major?

-I decided to start by running my own business instead of working under someone else’s supervision, so technically am the boss of myself, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t work in a company or so, because I do work in a TV station, i started recently, someone recommended me to them.

-the fact that I get to decide everything is very important to me, so am glad that I can do that.

-To me there is nothing frustrating about this career, and the most important thing is that I was and still am satisfied with all my accomplishments.

-"Since she tends to be different and unique in everything; Arroyo entered this field in a very unique concentration here which is “Spanish Media”, she didn’t work with a lot of Arabs, she mainly worked with Spanish celebrities and she made a lot of interviews with the best of the best, such as the Venezuelan singer /actress “Kiara”  www.kiara.com.ve   "

-She wrote a true story called “A True Hero”.

-She wrote many articles, some of them are published in ESCAPADE MAGAZINE.

-she wrote many interviews, movie script, scenes for short plays, short stories, many movie reviews,  directed many videos and filming, filmed documentaries.

-she made around 100 montages that include promotions such as child abuse, music CDs such as Kiara’s new album “Como La Primera Vez”.

-She does promotions for celebrities.

-Now she is writing a TV series of 30 episodes, each episode talks about a different story that is not related to the rest of the episodes, most of the stories are true stories.

·    What are the difficulties that students face in this major?

-The difficulties are that some students are obligated by the parents to enter a field that they don’t like it or they don’t want it, so they won’t be doing it right because once you don’t like something you just  can’t give a 100% which is unacceptable at all in any kind of job or career path.

-Some of them enter with no basic information or background about media which makes them struggle.

-If they entered a university that has lack of opportunities in something like this field or area, they will have no experience and it will not help them with finding a job.

-with no skills or low abilities it wont be easy for them to find a job with a good salary.

·    What kind of activities that the students do in this major?

-The University can help students to meet people and interview them this can help them develop their skills as TV presenters or interviewers.

- To go to photo shooting sessions with professionals this way they get to learn everything they need to be a professional photographer.

-To give them experience working outside the university, meeting directors, producers and writers, because this major cannot be completely learned inside the university.

·  Do you have an advice for graduates who will be working in this field?
-Build up your skill.

-To be confidence and work by yourself and by your style and ideas.

-If you fail you should try again and again till you accomplish what you want.

-Never listen to people because they just bring you down, just go for what you want to do.

-You can always seek for advice from professionals.

-Being an interviewer means being very strong and absolutely sure of yourself to interview a person.

-Don’t let anybody affect you in a bad way.

-Never stop at one point and try to seek higher goals.

-if you struggle to find a job in a company or so, then try Creating your own business like working online, because we are developing and online business is a success to a lot of people these day.

THE NOTEBOOK MOVIE- REVIEW

THIS IS MY REVIEW OF ONE  OF THE BEST MOVIES "MY FAVOURITE" WRITTEN IN 2010 :

The notebook is a romance movie starring Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, James Garner, and Gena Rowlands. The movie talks about 2 teenagers falling in love but the girl Allie(Rachel McAdams) is from the upper class, and Noah(Ryan Gosling) is  not. Unfortunately Allie’s parents separated her from Noah, because they don’t believe he is the right one for their daughter.  Noah joined the army and Allie volunteered to be a nurse  that helps  the injured people from the war. After  several  years of separation they meet again, Allie is engaged to another man and Noah fulfilled his dream by owning the house of his dream.
The film was shot in many different places  and some nice views  were included in the movie, especially the lake that were full of swans all over that was very romantic view for the scene. The scene of the rain was amazing  and the sound effects that was used for it was nice and strong, It brought all the love and passion that was lost for several years. The movie is nice in the way it shows how people can be really sweet to each other without hatreds and the desire for revenge especially between the lovers,  there is  a lot of respect shown between people in this movie.

What captured my attention mostly in the movie that it shows the power of love and how great it can be once you fall in love with the right person just like the 2 characters Noah and Allie. They had been through a lot during their separation, Allie was forced to marry someone else so she get engaged to him and Noah was left alone. This kind of love is the type that can either push you up and to the front, or just drags you back and towards failure but that wasn’t the case with Noah. He didn’t give up his life because Allie had left him and he didn’t stop living his dream and the dream he had with Allie which was building their dream house. Noah got provoked after his unbearable separation that he went through, although he moved on with “their” dream but at the same time he didn’t forget about Allie. Noah kept trying to reach out to her, he kept sending her letters for years but he never got any respond from her. But when they were reunited after long time, they aged together and here comes the part that fascinated me the most about this amazing love story. Despite the time they missed together, they managed to get back together and stay forever even though that Allie aged, got sick and lost her memory Noah never left her, he practically transferred himself into living with her in the hospital where they take care of her and of the people that face her disease. Allie disease is the kind of disease that you might recover your memory for a few minutes and then forget it all over again and it just keeps going on and on like that. Noah and Allie’s love and the example of true pure strong and powerful kind of love that could ever exist. As it takes a lot from one man to sacrifices all his life for one women and to spend his time taking care of her and trying hard to gain at least one minute with his beloved. Just to have this moment with her meant the world to Noah. That’s why he never stopped reading to her their story over and over again, he wanted to be with his Allie even if she doesn’t recognize him he just kept on his faith that she will remember him again just like she did several times before. Looking into Noah’s eyes and seeing his tears dropping down his cheeks when Allie remembered him at the ending scene, it looked like his live and light just got back to him. And the minute his beloved Allie had left him again and he was back to square 1 right where he started long time ago with the Allie that doesn’t remember him again. He felt like his world just crushed down, watching her freaking out and going backwards from him, it made him feel terrible, that’s just how much he loved her and cared about her. As its shown that despite everything Noah never left Allie not in sickness or health and he never lost hope or faith he left the whole world including his kids just to be near the love of his life until death separates them. He is just one of a kind, people like Noah are very hard to find these days. Real love can exist but they can hardly find or have the love story between Noah and Allie, and I don’t really think that an amazing love like that can exist anywhere, unless you are lucky to find a man like Noah. This is the kind of love that I would really want to have in my life, a strong love full of dedication, loyalty and care, passion and scarification all in the name of love. A life like that with a partner like Noah is worth the world to me, here I can understand Noah’s scarification of his isolation from the outside world, all for the sake of his love to Allie. To Noah, Allie was and will always be his world and the most precious thing in his life. Having a person like that by my side is everything that I would ever need. I really believe that any girl would be lucky to meet a man like Noah and have her endless love story with him just like Allie got hers.
